WHAT TIME IS THE CHECK IN AT THE RESORT?
Check in at your resort will not be until 3pm at the earliest.
If you arrive early, or your room is not yet ready for you to check in when you arrive, you may be able to leave your bags with the front desk and they will keep them securely held behind the desk while explore the property, eat, relax at the beach or get in a snorkel or SCUBA dive until your room is ready.
What if I need a roommate?
If you would like to have a roommate but don't not have one identified yet, then we will initially only charge the double occupancy rate. Aquatic Adventures Ohio will work to find you a roommate; however, if a roommate cannot be found then you are responsible for paying the single occupancy rate.
IS BREAKFAST INCLUDED?
Yes!
Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner are included in this package
Do I have to be certified to go SCUBA diving?
Yes, an Open Water Certification is required to go SCUBA diving.
If you haven’t gotten certified yet, you don’t know what you’re missing!
You can do your classroom work before your trip and then do your checkout dives on vacation!
Can I go diving just a few times? Or do I have to dive every day?
The first rule of diving (well, one of the first rules) is to call a dive if you aren’t comfortable. This means that if you have signed up to go diving one day and you don’t feel comfortable, please don’t get in the water.
That said, this is a personal choice and not one that will result in a refund of money.
If you want to go diving, but don’t want to participate in the active dive schedule we have included, we can arrange a separate dive for you, as often as you’d like!
The great thing about this resort, is that they have a house reef! So you don’t have to go far to get some great diving in.
Can I dive more often than what is listed in the itinerary?
Yes!
You will have unlimited shore diving available to you.
ONE thing to note- it is mandatory to have a local dive guide with you on all dives.
This means that you can dive as often as you would like; however, you will need to arrange those dives with the local dive operator onsite prior to diving.
Can I dive solo or alone with my buddies?
No.
All of the diving in St. Lucia is escorted by experienced, knowledgeable dive masters who will show you the best of St. Lucia’s underwater world.
Please stay within the dive profile guidelines established for each site. Avoid decompression situations (which would preclude diving for the following 24 hours). Recommended profiles are based on the PADI Dive Tables. If using dive computers, all members of the buddy team should be so equipped (no sharing of dive computers is allowed).
You are responsible for your own safe nitrogen levels.
We strongly recommend that you do not dive at least 18 -24 hours before flying.
In the interest of the safety of all our divers, we ask that you do not drink any alcoholic beverages until after your last dive of the day. The local dive shop reserves the right to refuse a dive to anyone who has been consuming alcohol prior to the dive.
Please don’t drink and dive.
What are the water temps in St. lucia in september?
September is the warmest month in st. Lucia. With water reaching 87°F at most and 84°F on average, spending time in the water is very pleasant.
A 3mm “shorty” wetsuit is recommended except for rainy days and multiple diving a 3mm "full wetsuit" would be better.
(the local dive shop will have wetsuits available; however, if you prefer to try them on in advance, Aquatic Adventures can assist you with a rental or purchase of a new wetsuit!)
What do I need to know about Boat Diving on this trip?
Scuba St.Lucia operates with three dive boats: Miss Ina, Miss Bertha and Miss Ta Ta.
The dive boats are all equipped with fresh drinking water, full safety equipment, first aid kits and a DAN Oxygen unit.
Tanks, BCD’s, weights and regulators will be placed on the boat. Ensure you collect your own fins, suits, masks etc to put onto the boat. The crew will assemble equipment, but it is mandatory that you check your own equipment to ensure that it is in working order prior to departure. If you require any assistance, please let us know. Smoking is not permitted on dive boats nor in the dive center area.
What do I need to know about Night Diving on this trip?
Please sign up early at the Scuba St. Lucia front desk, if you are interested in doing any additional night dives. The dive shop would like to get a count for night divers in the afternoon of the night dive so that they can prepare tanks, lights and tank markers as necessary.
Please note that there is a limited supply of dive lights for rental, so please bring your own with you if possible. Also, a tank marker will be required to be worn by all night divers. These may be rented at the dive center for US$5 or you may bring your own with you as well.
All night dives are done from the shore in the Anse Chastanet Marine Reserve.
What do I need to know about Shore Diving on this trip?
Tanks will be set out on the dive shop patio 45 minutes prior to the dive so divers may set up their gear. Please allow yourself ample time to set up your gear prior to the dive. Dives depart at the schedule times. As a courtesy to other divers we ask that you are set up and ready to dive at the scheduled hour.
Is Nitrox available?
Yes!
It’s $11 per tank per day or $104 for the week of diving inclusive of tax.
Please be at the dive shop 30min prior departure to give yourself enough time to check your tanks and sign the appropriate paperwork.
What kind of compressors do they use?
Scuba St.Lucia recently upgraded their filling station by adding a BAUER SECURUS AIR SYSTEM. This is the first and only filtration system of its kind in St. Lucia providing the purest air quality available in the industry. There are two BAUER K14 and a BAUER K15 compressor supplying close to 40 cfpm. Nitrox is also available.
What kind of tanks do they use?
Scuba St. Lucia has over 200 Aluminum scuba tanks in both 63 cu.ft. and 80 cu.ft. All tanks are tested and serviced on a regular basis to ensure top quality and safety.
What dive equipment is included?
Tanks, weight belts and weights are included in the cost of dives.
BCD’s, regulators, wetsuits, lights and tank markers may be rented and/or purchased
What equipment can I NOT dive with?
In the interest of protecting our beautiful coral reefs, the Soufriere Marine Management Authority has been established (SMMA). Divers are required to pay a fee of US$5 per day or US$15 per year to dive within the SMMA.
Please note the SMMA has a no knife, no glove policy.
Please do not touch any coral or marine life. Control your buoyancy carefully so that fins or gauges do not touch the reef. If you encounter any fish pots (traps) while diving, please do not interfere with them. Report it so that we may ask the marine rangers to remove them. Thank you for your help in preserving our reefs!
What rental equipment is available?
The rental facility is fully equipped with the latest scuba gear: Scuba Pro regulators with Octopus, low pressure Inflator, depth and pressure gauge and our BCD's are from Seaquest/Aqualung and 3mm shorty wetsuits. Also available for rental to certified divers are masks, fins, snorkels and wetsuits.
The onsite rental equipment goes for $13.20 a piece per day or $66 per week, inclusive of tax(i.e reg., bcd, shorty wetsuit and computer). Currently they don’t have a PDF for a list of all their equipment, so just ask us if there’s something in particular you want to rent.
All rental gear is serviced on a regular basis to ensure top quality and safety. The facility is equipped with four large fresh water rinse tanks with disinfectant inside and all gear is washed after each use.
Can I rent a camera?
Yes!
Scuba St. Lucia offers their clients an underwater Photo and Video center with camera rentals and custom videos. Digital underwater cameras are also available for rental.
The staff can assist with all camera and video needs as well as offer a range of courses such as Underwater Videographer and Underwater Photographer.
