September 13-20:
Diving at
Anse

Castanet

12 boat dives

2 night dives

Extra scheduled beach diving

(Nitrox is available for a discounted charge)

Additional dive sites

Please note: All dive sites below are examples of the dives you may be doing during your trip. The local dive operator will take into account best sites based on the weather and other factors.

There’s no guarantee that you’ll visit these sites, but if you have a preference you can let the
local dive guide know what you’re most interested in seeing!

Coral garden

Coral garden is part of the Gros Piton and is a spectacular site.

Located at the base of the 2438ft/750M Gros Piton which towers above you. Depth on this site ranges from 15ft/5M to 90ft/27M. Visually stunning scenery both above and below the water. Plenty of five-finger corals and lots of juvenile reef fish make this a favourite diving and snorkeling site.

Virgins Cove

Named after a shipwreck which killed a party of Nuns and is today commemorated by a Cross which has been erected on the point above the dive site. Shaped like a figure “9”, maximum depth is around 70ft/21M. There are lots of large Barrel Sponges, Brain Coral and occasionally Stingrays.

Turtle Reef

You will end the diving part of the day with a 1-tank boat dive (possibly at the Turtle Reef).
Named for its crescent shape not because this is where Turtles hang out (although they sometimes do).

Depths range from 40ft/12M to around 140ft/43M. Lots of Pillar Corals and Barrel Sponges in the shallows and plenty of varied marine life make this an interesting “critter spotting” dive.

Fairyland

The Fairyland boat dive is a bit closer to the hotel but that makes it no less breathtaking!

This area is on a major headland and is sometimes subject to strong currents which keep the coral and sponges very clean so that their vibrant colours are visible. The depth ranges from 40ft/12M – 200ft/61M. Turtles are often seen on this dive and are usually quite friendly.

’Lesleen M’ wreck

Wreck of a cargo vessel sunk as an artificial reef in 1986. Sits upright on a sandy bottom at a max depth of 65ft/20M. The 167ft/51M long wreck offers open access to the surface and is inhabited by many types of marine life including Lobster, Moray Eels and reef fish. Stunningly colourful and pretty dive.

Key Hole Pinnacles

This is probably the most visually stunning dive site. Four spectacular volcanic peaks rise dramatically from the depths to within a few feet of the surface. These are encrusted with a profusion of black and orange gorgonia, and this lacy network provides shelter for trumpet fish, filefish, and sometimes seahorses. Larger fishes such as grouper, jack and snapper, can be spotted around the Pinnacles.

Malgretoute

Under the Petit Piton Mountain, Malgretoute, which means “Despite Everything”, is a steep slope with large rocky outcrops, encrusted in colourful sponges and a variety of corals. Among these are the large barrel sponges and bright yellow tube sponges – check inside these for crabs and basket stars.

Rosemonds Trench

This is a gorgeous dive with coral shaped like the fingers of a hand with valleys and trenches between and a small tunnel leading into a chimney. Max depth is 36ft/11M. Home to Seahorses, Frogfish, Turtles and the “usual” tropical fish. Typical dive time is 1 hour. This is a “must do” Marine Park dive.

Superman’s flight

Superman’s flight is a drift dive in the shadow of the Petit Piton.

Named after a scene from the movie Superman II. Entry to the water is at the base of Petit Piton towering 2619ft/805M above you. This sloping wall dive has a depth of around 1500ft/461M. You will see massive fluorescent Sponges, large Gorgonians and many species of colourful tropical fish. A “must do” Soufriere dive.

Anse La Raya Wall

This dive site was named after the village of Anse La Raye (bay of rays). Depth is from 60 – 110ft/18 – 34M. This dive features a beautiful sloping wall that is alive with a multitude of different fish life and many different types of coral. Rays are often seen on this pretty dive.

Piton Wall

Located at the base of Petit Piton this dramatic wall drops from the surface down many hundreds of feet. It is covered with Sea Whips, Gorgonians, delicate soft corals and lots of Feather Duster Worms. This is a colorful dive with lots of different things to see.

Trou Diable

A very easy going dive with flat coral reef at around 40ft/12M, however the maximum depth is over 100ft/30M. Features of the dive are Finger Coral, Brain Coral, Barrel Sponges, the usual tropical fish and on a lucky day maybe as many as three turtles. A nice second dive for around 1 hour.

September 20:
Departure

On the final day of our adventure, participants will prepare for their departure back to Columbus, OH (CMH).

The group's airfare is organized to ensure a cohesive and worry-free return.

Anse Chastanet staff will assist with the check-out process from the accommodations and ensure that everyone is transported to the airport with ample time for our flight. .

Safe travels home, and we can’t wait to see you on our next trip!

Do I have to be certified to go SCUBA diving?

Yes, an Open Water Certification is required to go SCUBA diving.

If you haven’t gotten certified yet, you don’t know what you’re missing!
You can do your classroom work before your trip and then do your checkout dives on vacation!

Can I go diving just a few times? Or do I have to dive every day?

The first rule of diving (well, one of the first rules) is to call a dive if you aren’t comfortable. This means that if you have signed up to go diving one day and you don’t feel comfortable, please don’t get in the water.
That said, this is a personal choice and not one that will result in a refund of money.

If you want to go diving, but don’t want to participate in the active dive schedule we have included, we can arrange a separate dive for you, as often as you’d like!
The great thing about this resort, is that they have a house reef! So you don’t have to go far to get some great diving in.

Can I dive more often than what is listed in the itinerary?

Yes!
You will have unlimited shore diving available to you.
ONE thing to note- it is mandatory to have a local dive guide with you on all dives.
This means that you can dive as often as you would like; however, you will need to arrange those dives with the local dive operator onsite prior to diving.

Can I dive solo or alone with my buddies?

No.
All of the diving in St. Lucia is escorted by experienced, knowledgeable dive masters who will show you the best of St. Lucia’s underwater world.
Please stay within the dive profile guidelines established for each site.  Avoid decompression situations (which would preclude diving for the following 24 hours).  Recommended profiles are based on the PADI Dive Tables.  If using dive computers, all members of the buddy team should be so equipped (no sharing of dive computers is allowed)
You are responsible for your own safe nitrogen levels.
We strongly recommend that you do not dive at least 18 -24 hours before flying.

In the interest of the safety of all our divers, we ask that you do not drink any alcoholic beverages until after your last dive of the day.  The local dive shop reserves the right to refuse a dive to anyone who has been consuming alcohol prior to the dive.
Please don’t drink and dive.

What are the water temps in St. lucia in September?

In September, water temperatures in St. Lucia are typically warm and inviting, averaging between 80°F to 84°F (27°C to 29°C). These tropical conditions create ideal settings for scuba diving, allowing divers to enjoy extended underwater explorations without the need for thick wetsuits. The pleasant temperatures also contribute to vibrant marine life and clear visibility, making it an excellent time for both novice and experienced divers to experience the breathtaking coral reefs and abundant sea creatures that inhabit the waters surrounding St. Lucia.

A 3mm “shorty” wetsuit is recommended except for rainy days and multiple diving a 3mm "full wetsuit" would be better.

(the local dive shop will have wetsuits available; however, if you prefer to try them on in advance, Aquatic Adventures can assist you with a rental or purchase of a new wetsuit!)

What do I need to know about Boat Diving on this trip?

Scuba St.Lucia operates with three dive boats: Miss Ina, Miss Bertha and Miss Ta Ta.
The dive boats are all equipped with fresh drinking water, full safety equipment, first aid kits and a DAN Oxygen unit.

Tanks, BCD’s, weights and regulators will be placed on the boat.  Ensure you collect your own fins, suits, masks etc to put onto the boat. The crew will assemble equipment, but it is mandatory that you check your own equipment to ensure that it is in working order prior to departure.  If you require any assistance, please let us know.  Smoking is not permitted on dive boats nor in the dive center area.

What do I need to know about Night Diving on this trip?

Please sign up early at the Scuba St. Lucia front desk, if you are interested in doing any additional night dives.  The dive shop would like to get a count for night divers in the afternoon of the night dive so that they can prepare tanks, lights and tank markers as necessary.

Please note that there is a limited supply of dive lights for rental, so please bring your own with you if possible.  Also, a tank marker will be required to be worn by all night divers.  These may be rented at the dive center for US$5 or you may bring your own with you as well.
All night dives are done from the shore in the Anse Chastanet Marine Reserve.

What do I need to know about Shore Diving on this trip?

Tanks will be set out on the dive shop patio 45 minutes prior to the dive so divers may set up their gear.  Please allow yourself ample time to set up your gear prior to the dive.  Dives depart at the schedule times.  As a courtesy to other divers we ask that you are set up and ready to dive at the scheduled hour.

Is Nitrox available?

Yes!

It’s $75 per diver plus 10% service charge and 10% VAT.
Please be at the dive shop 30min prior departure to give yourself enough time to check your tanks and sign the appropriate paperwork.

What kind of compressors do they use?

Scuba St.Lucia recently upgraded their filling station by adding a BAUER SECURUS AIR SYSTEM. This is the first and only filtration system of its kind in St. Lucia providing the purest air quality available in the industry. There are two BAUER K14 and a BAUER K15 compressor supplying close to 40 cfpm. Nitrox is also available.

What kind of tanks do they use?

Scuba St. Lucia has over 200 Aluminum scuba tanks in both 63 cu.ft. and 80 cu.ft. All tanks are tested and serviced on a regular basis to ensure top quality and safety.

What dive equipment is included?

Tanks, weight belts and weights are included in the cost of dives.
BCD’s, regulators, wetsuits, lights and tank markers may be rented and/or purchased

What equipment can I NOT dive with?

In the interest of protecting our beautiful coral reefs, the Soufriere Marine Management Authority has been established (SMMA).  Divers are required to pay a fee of US$15 to dive within the SMMA.

Please note the SMMA has a no knife, no glove policy

Please do not touch any coral or marine life.  Control your buoyancy carefully so that fins or gauges do not touch the reef.  If you encounter any fish pots (traps) while diving, please do not interfere with them.  Report it so that we may ask the marine rangers to remove them.  Thank you for your help in preserving our reefs!

What rental equipment is available?

The rental facility is fully equipped with the latest scuba gear: Scuba Pro regulators with Octopus, low pressure Inflator, depth and pressure gauge and our BCD's are from Seaquest/Aqualung and 3mm shorty wetsuits. Also available for rental to certified divers are masks, fins, snorkels and wetsuits.

The onsite rental equipment goes for $13.20 a piece per day or $66 per week, inclusive of tax(i.e reg., bcd, shorty wetsuit and computer). Currently they don’t have a PDF for a list of all their equipment, so just ask us if there’s something in particular you want to rent.

All rental gear is serviced on a regular basis to ensure top quality and safety. The facility is equipped with four large fresh water rinse tanks with disinfectant inside and all gear is washed after each use.

Lockers and hanging space are provided for your convenience.  Locks and keys are available at the retail center desk.  If you bring the locker key to equipment rental and tell them the number of your locker, your key will be held for you.

Can I pay by Zelle?

No, the dive shop does not accept Zelle. You can make your payment by credit card which includes a 3% processing fee.

Can I pay by check?

Yes!

If you would like to avoid the 3% processing fee, you may pay by check. You can drop this off at the front desk of the dive shop or by mailing this directly to the dive shop.

Dive Insurance

Aquatic Adventures of Ohio requires all divers to have some level of dive insurance to travel on all trips. At minimum, you must have hyperbaric recompression chamber coverage- this may be covered by your current insurance, but if not… you’ll need supplemental dive accident insurance.

NOTE: A DAN membership is separate from DAN insurance.

If you don’t have dive insurance yet, check out the link below for plan options.

Proof of dive insurance will be required prior to departure. If no dive insurance has been purchased/proof provided, AAO reserves the right to cancel your reservation without refund.
