What makes the Blooming British Afternoon Tea unique?

The Blooming British Afternoon Tea in collaboration with the Natural History Museum is a floral-inspired twist on a quintessentially British tradition, in a celebration of the beautiful flowers and precious pollinators on your doorstep.

Taking inspiration from artworks held within the Museum’s archives, their newly transformed gardens that provide a haven for people and wildlife, and the idyllic 30-minute nature walk across leafy Hyde Park that brings everyone together, their talented pastry team have created a thoughtful menu that beautifully honors the elegance of British flora and fauna, using locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients.

This special collaboration combines the Museum’s expertise and work to protect the natural world, with their ongoing sustainability efforts, and a shared passion for pollinators.

The Royal Lancaster London has been home to thousands of honey bees since 2009 when they became the first hotel in central London to install beehives on their roof; an initiative led by their very own Queen Bee, Jo Hemesley, who continues to lead their beekeeping team to this day.

Together, we support a future where people and pollinators thrive.

What is included in the Food Tour of London's Historic Pubs?

Step onto the bustling streets of London and prepare for a journey through the history of pubs and hearty food. Learn all about the jaw-dropping history behind these taverns and inns, and find out how the city has shaped its food and drink scene over the centuries.

You’ll enjoy 4 food tastings and 4 drinks on this tour.

  • No British beer is more well-known than ale, so that's how you'll begin your London pub and food tour in an establishment that's almost 500 years old. Hear how Queen Elizabeth was very familiar with the tree outside and bite into a pork pie—a classic pub dish.

  • Moving on to Fleet Street, made famous by Sweeney Todd, get ready to try another classic British drink: cider. Paired with a sausage roll, this quintessential London experience only gets better as you enjoy it in a pub designed by the same architect behind St. Paul's Cathedral.

  • Your next stop is a pub in a historic listed building. Rebuilt after the Great Fire of London in 1666, this pub became a refuge for some of the world's most famous writers to unwind and tuck into some devilled whitebait and some stout. Keeping with traditions, you'll do exactly the same here.

  • The city of London has some unique delicacies, and you'll hear all about one of the more outlandish ones at your final pub. Centuries ago, cock ale was served at this establishment where the drink was made with cockerel. Thankfully, on our menu is a scotch egg paired with a portobello ale. Pair it with a lively game of shuffleboard as you eat and drink to wrap up your London pub tour on a memorable note.

This is your chance to visit the most historic pubs in London and experience them at their very best. The stories and colorful characters behind these places make the food and drinks taste even better.

Please note that this description is an example and stops or tastes may vary depending on the season, day of the week, and group size. Regardless of where your tour goes, you always have a delicious experience.

WHAT ELECTRIC ADAPTER SHOULD I BRING?

You will need to consider what to pack, to ensure you can use your personal electrical appliances safely while you are abroad. This normally includes the use of a travel adapter, which is a device that simply allows you to plug any US electrical appliance into a foreign electrical socket. It is important to note that it does not convert the voltage or frequency.

Plug adapters are the interfaces between the American flat-pronged plug and European two round-prong socket. These allow you to plug your electrical device into the wall socket, but they do not convert the electricity to the American 110 volts. If your appliance is designed to run only on 110-120 volts, you are likely to see smoke, if not fire, from this potent miss-mating. You will need a step-down voltage converter to safely step the voltage down from 230 to 110.

BUY A POWER PLUG/TRAVEL ADAPTER

Amazon has an great selection of adapters. We don’t sell directly, just want to make sure you have the right one for your travels!

Is it customary to tip in the UK?

While tipping in the UK (England) is not as ingrained as it is in some other countries, it is generally appreciated and quite common in many situations, particularly in the service industry.

Restaurants/Pubs/Bars

At restaurants, for instance, it is customary to leave a tip of around 10-15% of the bill if you're pleased with the service. However, always check your bill first to see if a service charge has already been included.

In pubs and bars, tipping is less common, but you might choose to offer to buy the bartender a drink if you're feeling generous.

Taxi/Driver services

For taxi services, many people round up to the nearest pound or tip around 10-15% of the fare.

Guide Services

Yes, you should consider tipping your tour guide if you found their service helpful and informative. As with other service industry roles, a tip serves as a gesture of appreciation for their expertise and effort.

A common guideline is to tip around £10-£20 per person for a full day tour. However, this is entirely at your discretion and should reflect your satisfaction with the service provided.
Remember, it's not mandatory but certainly appreciated by the guides who work hard to make your experience enjoyable.

Can I pay by Zelle?

Yes!

We started taking Zelle payments last month and we found this to be a fast and FREE way to pay!
For those who don’t know what Zelle is… it is very much like a wire transfer (but it is not a wire transfer).

Everyone’s bank is different, though, so you may want to call/go in to your local bank and ask to have the maximum amount available to transfer every day.

Example: Some banks only allow $500/day transfer. Other banks will allow $1200/day.

Always be careful when making payments through Zelle to people that you do not know. There is no protection guarantee provided and you cannot reverse the fee.

The Pros for using Zelle:

  • It is FREE (no processing fees)!

  • It is instantaneous (funds will go directly to Zone Travel- so this is the absolute fastest way to make a payment)

The Cons for using Zelle:

  • Every bank is different when it comes to maximum amount available to be transferred every day. So, this may mean that you need to make multiple payments to Zone Travel, multiple days in a row.

  • It does require an app download onto your phone, and you need to set up your account with your bank information.

Can I pay by check?

Yes!

If you would like to avoid the 4%processing fees, you may pay by check.
It is very important that you pay in advance of the deadlines and allow ample time for delivery.

Payments received after the deadline could result in cancelation of your reservation or increased fees.

There are two ways to pay by check:

  • Mail the check

  • Deposit directly at a local branch
