Take a dive into history at the Munich Residenz, once the royal palace of the Wittelsbach monarchs.

Directions to (and from) the Dachau Concentration Camp from Munich:
(taken from the article above)
From wherever you are in Munich, it’s really the easiest to just start your journey at the Hauptbahnhof, Munich’s main train station (because your Munich hotel probably isn’t too far away). - Hint- it’s not- it’s only a short taxi ride or about a 30 min walk.
Inside the Hauptbahnhof, rather than trying to figure out your routes and times and what-not, simply purchase a single person day ticket called “Munich XXL.” (this has been purchased, see above) This ticket covers all transportation on both the trains and the buses you’ll need for your day visiting Dachau Concentration Camp and covers you for an entire day.
Important note: The Munich XXL ticket covers you for your entire day, but not for a 24-hour period. Regardless of what time you buy the ticket, it will expire at 6:00 am the next morning.
Head straight past the regional trains and pretzel vendors, downstairs to the S-Bahn trains.
Here you’ll want to take the S2 train in the direction of Petershausen/Dachau/Altomünster. I realize it looks obvious with the word Dachau in there, but the trains could say all three, or just one. On my most recent visit, my S2 train simply said “Altomünster.”
(Get off on the Dachau Bahnhof stop)
Catching the bus to Dachau Concentration Camp
At the Dachau train station, head downstairs from the train platform and follow the signs for “KZ-Gedenkstätte.” This is how locals refer to Dachau Concentration Camp.
These signs will lead you outside and to a curb-side bus stop where you’ll board bus 726 in the direction of “Saubachsiedlung” (which operates as bus 744 on Saturdays, Sundays, and official holidays, for whatever reason).
Pro tip: When in doubt, which is a lot, I always double check with the driver to make sure the bus
I’m getting on is the one I need to be on. And when you’re headed to such a popular tourist site as this one,
even if the driver can’t speak your language, chances are he/she will still know what you’re talking about.
The bus will stop immediately outside the entrance to the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site.
Getting back
Getting back to Munich is simply the reverse of this: Grab the 726 (or 744) bus going the other direction (i.e., on the other side of the street) towards “Dachau Bahnhof,” then at Dachau train station, take the S2 towards “Erding” and get off at the Hauptbahnhof (or whichever stop is closest to your hotel).
July 7:
Dachau Camp
Today, Dachau is a small, unassuming suburb outside of Munich, Germany, but it’s unfortunately known around the world for its former concentration camp, a permanent scar that will forever be linked with the area. Dachau was the very first Nazi work camp, the model from which all others were created.
Embark on a somber journey through history with a visit to the Dachau Concentration Camp. The first of the Nazi concentration camps opened in 1933, this memorial stands as a poignant symbol of the atrocities that marked the Second World War.
Walk through the preserved grounds, step into the original barracks, and witness the stark conditions that the detainees were subjected to.
Visit the museum to delve deeply into the heart-wrenching narratives, personal accounts, and historical context of Dachau.
A visit here is not just about witnessing a dark chapter of human history, but about understanding the resilience of the human spirit. This sobering experience is a testament to never forget, and to continue striving for a world where such horrors are unrepeatable. Remember, Dachau is not merely a visit, but a profound history lesson and a call to never forget.
July 8:
Neuschwanstein Castle
8am-6pm- Neuschwanstein Castle Tour
Drawing inspiration from the realms of reality, the iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland, the mesmerizing Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom, and a host of other enchanting castles found their muse in the actual Neuschwanstein Castle.
This striking fortress, nestled amidst nature's wonder, was the cherished sanctuary of Bavaria's "fairy-tale king," Ludwig II.
Paying tribute to Richard Wagner, the castle's whimsical design was the brainchild of theatrical set designer Christian Jank. His vision was to amplify the romance of the surrounding mountains and forests through the castle's beauty.
Your guide, Jay, will pick you up at your hotel.
Once you arrive in Schwangau, you’ll walk to the castle. However, weather and season permitting, you can also reach the castle by bus (€3.50/pp) or a horse-drawn carriage (€8/pp) (but some walking is still involved before you reach the castle).
You will go on a short (approx. 35 minutes) English tour of the castle (guided by mandatory Castle guides- private guides are not permitted to guide in the castle).
Afterwards, you’ll have a number of choices for the afternoon, after lunch.
-The castle Hohenschwangau, the summer residence of the Royal Family. (€27/pp)
-You can take a beautiful ride through the Bavarian countryside, and go to Oberammergau where you can experience the "Lüftmalerei" painted houses, and see the intricate hand-carved wooden figures.
-You can visit Linderhof and tour the Palace Gardens (€10/pp)
Meet your tour guide, Jay Fletcher
“Traveling was my passion for many years. I spent my first 4 years in Europe traveling as a Busker. I then made playing music my profession. I owned a studio and produced music for Film and Television, was the bandleader of a German Late Night TV talk show and played countless live shows throughout Europe. I spent 6 months in Scandinavia, and 6 months in Greece, and then lived a year in Berchtesgaden (near Salzburg on the border to Austria) and eventually settled in Munich, where I met my wife. We have 2 lovely children.
On our journey, I will answer any questions you may have, and give information on areas we drive by, as well as history and facts about our destination.”

F.A.Q.
WHAT TIME SHOULD my flight ARRIVE IN Frankfurt/Cologne?
We suggest trying to arrive around 1pm-3pm in the afternoon if possible.
WHAT TIME IS THE CHECK IN TO THE HOTEL?
Check in at your hotel will not be until 3pm at the earliest.
If you arrive early, or your room is not yet ready for you to check in when you arrive, you may be able to leave your bags with the front desk and they will keep them securely held behind the desk while you go out and eat or explore the city until your room is ready.
DO I HAVE TO WEAR MY MASK THE WHOLE TIME?
At this time, No.
IS BREAKFAST INCLUDED?
Sometimes.
The serving times vary by hotel (they will tell you at check-in), but usually breakfast is served starting at 6:30am.
Not all hotels will include breakfast, but if they don’t- consider it a great opportunity to enjoy the local fare just steps from your accommodations.
Can I pay by Zelle?
Yes!
We started taking Zelle payments last month and we found this to be a fast and FREE way to pay!
For those who don’t know what Zelle is… it is very much like a wire transfer (but it is not a wire transfer).
Everyone’s bank is different, though, so you may want to call/go in to your local bank and ask to have the maximum amount available to transfer every day.
Example: Some banks only allow $500/day transfer. Other banks will allow $1200/day.
Always be careful when making payments through Zelle to people that you do not know. There is no protection guarantee provided and you cannot reverse the fee.
The Pros for using Zelle:
It is FREE (no processing fees)!
It is instantaneous (funds will go directly to Zone Travel- so this is the absolute fastest way to make a payment)
The Cons for using Zelle:
Every bank is different when it comes to maximum amount available to be transferred every day. So, this may mean that you need to make multiple payments to Zone Travel, multiple days in a row.
It does require an app download onto your phone, and you need to set up your account with your bank information.
Can I pay by check?
Yes!
If you would like to avoid the 4% credit card processing fees, you may pay by check.
It is very important that you pay in advance of the deadlines and allow ample time for delivery.
Payments received after the deadline could result in cancelation of your reservation or increased fees.
There are two ways to pay by check:
Mail the check
Deposit directly at a local branch
