Today is a self guided day in Edinburgh.
Edinburgh, Scotland's captivating capital, is a city that truly has it all. Rich in history, it boasts a stunning old town that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, punctuated by the towering Edinburgh Castle.
It's also a city of outstanding natural beauty, from the ancient volcano and verdant parkland of Arthur's Seat to the tranquil oasis of the Royal Botanic Garden.
Furthermore, Edinburgh's gastronomic landscape is a delight for food lovers, with local eateries serving up traditional Scottish fare alongside innovative contemporary cuisine.

It's a city that deserves to be on every traveler's bucket list.
Edinburgh Castle
Edinburgh Castle is one of the oldest fortified places in Europe. With a long rich history as a royal residence, military garrison, prison and fortress, it is alive with many exciting tales. When you climb Castle Hill, you will walk in the footsteps of soldiers, kings and queens – and even the odd pirate or two.
Though parts of it remain in military use, the castle is now a world-famous visitor attraction. It’s also an iconic part of the Old and New Towns of Edinburgh World Heritage Site.
You can indulge to an afternoon tea experience in the castle, which also includes admission to the castle.
Note: A ticket is required to enter the Castle. This should be purchased well in advance as these tickets sell out quickly. This has not been included in the package.
Holyrood House
Also known as the Palace of Holyroodhouse, Holyrood House is the official residence of the British monarch in Scotland.
Situated at the end of the historic Royal Mile in Edinburgh, this magnificent palace is steeped in history and grandeur.
Explore the state apartments that have witnessed many dramatic events throughout the centuries, including the tragic tale of Mary, Queen of Scots.
Don't miss the chance to stroll through the beautifully landscaped Holyrood Park and ascend Arthur's Seat, an ancient volcano that offers stunning panoramic views of Edinburgh.
Note: The Palace of Holyroodhouse is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. For the best experience we suggest booking your tickets in advance and arriving after 11am.

Then, wander through the historic Greyfriars Kirkyard, where you may spot some familiar names on the tombstones that inspired some of Rowling's memorable characters. Don't miss George Heriot's School, a grand and beautiful building believed to be the inspiration for Hogwarts.
Finally, stroll down the Victoria Street, a winding and colorful street that is thought to be the real-life Diagon Alley.
Whether you're a Potterhead or merely curious, these enchanting locales promise a fascinating glimpse into the world that inspired the magical universe of Harry Potter.
June 18:
Explore Edinburgh
Today is a self guided day in Edinburgh.
(let us know if you’d like a tour of the Outlander sites in Edinburgh)
For fans of the hit book and television series Outlander, a visit to Edinburgh is incomplete without exploring some of the show's notable filming locations.
Begin your journey at Bakehouse Close, which doubles as the Carfax Close in the series, where Jamie's print shop is located in the 18th century.
The centuries-old buildings and narrow lanes transport you back in time, immersing you in the world of Jamie and Claire.
Next, head to Tweeddale Court, an historic alley with cobblestone streets that served as a backdrop for several scenes in the series.
After wandering through the historic streets of Edinburgh, take a stroll through the verdant Royal Botanic Garden, which was transformed into the gardens of Versailles in the show.
Lastly, visit Craigmillar Castle, a medieval ruin on the outskirts of the city that doubles as Ardsmuir Prison in the series. With its rugged beauty and fascinating history, it's the perfect spot to explore your Outlander journey through Edinburgh.
As your Outlander-inspired journey through Edinburgh draws to a close, it's time to visit Lallybroch, also known as Brodie Castle in real life. This Midhope Castle, a 16th-century tower house on the Hopetoun Estate, is instantly recognizable as the ancestral home of Jamie Fraser.
As you stroll through the archway into the courtyard, you'll feel as though you've stepped straight into a scene from Outlander. The castle, set amidst a landscape of rolling hills and sparkling streams, exudes an aura of rustic charm and tranquil beauty. Here, you can imagine Jamie's life in simpler times, filled with love, family, and a deep connection to his Scottish roots. Take a moment to soak in the serene surroundings and breathe in the crisp Highland air.
The journey to Lallybroch is a fitting end to your Outlander adventure in Edinburgh, leaving you with lasting memories of a truly magical experience.

F.A.Q.
WHAT TIME IS THE CHECK IN TO THE ACCOMMODATIONS?
Check in at your hotel will not be until 3pm at the earliest.
If you arrive early, or your room is not yet ready for you to check in when you arrive, you may be able to leave your bags with the front desk and they will keep them securely held behind the desk while you go out and eat or explore the city until your room is ready.
IS BREAKFAST INCLUDED?
Yes! Breakfast is included at all your locations.
WHAT ELECTRIC ADAPTER SHOULD I BRING?
You will need to consider what to pack, to ensure you can use your personal electrical appliances safely while you are abroad. This normally includes the use of a travel adapter, which is a device that simply allows you to plug any US electrical appliance into a foreign electrical socket. It is important to note that it does not convert the voltage or frequency.
Plug adapters are the interfaces between the American flat-pronged plug and European two round-prong socket. These allow you to plug your electrical device into the wall socket, but they do not convert the electricity to the American 110 volts. If your appliance is designed to run only on 110-120 volts, you are likely to see smoke, if not fire, from this potent miss-mating. You will need a step-down voltage converter to safely step the voltage down from 230 to 110.
BUY A POWER PLUG/TRAVEL ADAPTER
Amazon has an great selection of adapters. We don’t sell directly, just want to make sure you have the right one for your travels!
Is it customary to tip in the UK?
While tipping in the UK (England and Scotland) is not as ingrained as it is in some other countries, it is generally appreciated and quite common in many situations, particularly in the service industry.
Restaurants/Pubs/Bars
At restaurants, for instance, it is customary to leave a tip of around 10-15% of the bill if you're pleased with the service. However, always check your bill first to see if a service charge has already been included.
In pubs and bars, tipping is less common, but you might choose to offer to buy the bartender a drink if you're feeling generous.
Taxi/Driver services
For taxi services, many people round up to the nearest pound or tip around 10-15% of the fare.
Guide Services
Yes, you should consider tipping your tour guide if you found their service helpful and informative. As with other service industry roles, a tip serves as a gesture of appreciation for their expertise and effort.
A common guideline is to tip around £10-£20 per person for a full day tour. However, this is entirely at your discretion and should reflect your satisfaction with the service provided.
Remember, it's not mandatory but certainly appreciated by the guides who work hard to make your experience enjoyable.
Can I pay by Zelle?
Yes!
We started taking Zelle payments last month and we found this to be a fast and FREE way to pay!
For those who don’t know what Zelle is… it is very much like a wire transfer (but it is not a wire transfer).
Everyone’s bank is different, though, so you may want to call/go in to your local bank and ask to have the maximum amount available to transfer every day.
Example: Some banks only allow $500/day transfer. Other banks will allow $1200/day.
Always be careful when making payments through Zelle to people that you do not know. There is no protection guarantee provided and you cannot reverse the fee.
The Pros for using Zelle:
It is FREE (no processing fees)!
It is instantaneous (funds will go directly to Zone Travel- so this is the absolute fastest way to make a payment)
The Cons for using Zelle:
Every bank is different when it comes to maximum amount available to be transferred every day. So, this may mean that you need to make multiple payments to Zone Travel, multiple days in a row.
It does require an app download onto your phone, and you need to set up your account with your bank information.
Can I pay by check?
Yes!
If you would like to avoid the 4%processing fees, you may pay by check.
It is very important that you pay in advance of the deadlines and allow ample time for delivery.
Payments received after the deadline could result in cancelation of your reservation or increased fees.
There are two ways to pay by check:
Mail the check
Deposit directly at a local branch
