F.A.Q.

ARRIVAL in cairo

One of the representatives will meet us at the arrival area and will escort us trough customs, assist during the visa process and help with baggage claims.

During our stay we will have a air-conditioned VIP transport.

Tourist visa to enter egypt

United States Citizens are required to obtain a tourist visa to enter Egypt. Our partner team ( on ground in Egypt ) has already applied for your visa for you. This special assistance is included in the trip package. The cost of the visa is also included in the trip package. Once you provide us your passport information there is nothing else you need to do. Our airport assistant will give you your visa upon arrival at Cairo airport.

IMPORTANT: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your trip dates.

Note: If any airport staff in the USA try to question you about the VISA, simply remind them that Egypt is a "VISA on Arrival" country and you have it arranged already through your tour company.

MONEY AND CURRENCY IN Egypt

The Egyptian Pound ( EGP ) is the currency of Egypt. Right now, approximately 15.68 Egyptian Pounds equal $1 US Dollar . Some local markets will accept US dollars but they must be crisp / mint condition. You can also tip in EGP but bills should be crisp.

gratuity

It is customary to tip (in Egyptian Pounds or US dollars) the following people:

  • Your airport representative

  • Anyone that helps handling your luggage

  • Restaurant servers

  • Your guide. Do this at the end of our trip

  • Your drivers

  • Your camel guide

  • Restroom people. You may need to tip to use the public restroom at some of the sites. This is usually 1- 2 EGP or one USD $1 if easier.

important travel tips

Bathrooms:

  1. Bring tissue in your bag. Many public toilets don't have toilet paper.

  2. You may need to tip to use the public bathrooms at some sites ( 1- 2 EGP or one USD $1 if easier )

  3. Many of the bathrooms at temple sites are like "Port-a-Potties." It's just part of the experience but bring hand sanitizer and anything else you may need.

Electricity:

  1. Egypt operates on a 220V supply voltage and 50Hz.

  2. For charging things like phones & iPads, you will need an adapter.

  3. Hair Dryers are provided in the hotels so you won't need to bring one. Depending on your accommodation.

  4. For appliances like shavers, flat irons and curling wands; you will need a converter ( in addition to an adapter.)

How to Dress:

As in most Middle Eastern countries, all guests should have shoulders and knees covered when out in public , especially when visiting Holy Sites. On our River Cruise and hotel you can dress as you wish. At the pyramids, dress is a little more casual since it is a very touristy location i.e. tank tops would be ok.

Water:

It is very important not to drink the tap water in Egypt. Please only drink bottled water. The same goes for brushing your teeth ( even at nice hotels.) It is advised to brush your teeth with bottled water. If you are dining at restaurants outside of your hotel- be mindful that the dishes have been thoroughly cleaned / dried before eating off of them. Your guide can advise you which restaurants use modern cleaning systems. Your guide will know which street food places are safe to visit. ( Please also try to avoid dairy products that have been sitting out i.e. yoghurt or similar at salad bars)

Can I pay by Zelle?

Yes!

We started taking Zelle payments last month and we found this to be a fast and FREE way to pay!
For those who don’t know what Zelle is… it is very much like a wire transfer (but it is not a wire transfer).

Everyone’s bank is different, though, so you may want to call/go in to your local bank and ask to have the maximum amount available to transfer every day.

Example: Some banks only allow $500/day transfer. Other banks will allow $1200/day.

Always be careful when making payments through Zelle to people that you do not know. There is no protection guarantee provided and you cannot reverse the fee.

The Pros for using Zelle:

  • It is FREE (no processing fees)!

  • It is instantaneous (funds will go directly to Zone Travel- so this is the absolute fastest way to make a payment)

The Cons for using Zelle:

  • Every bank is different when it comes to maximum amount available to be transferred every day. So, this may mean that you need to make multiple payments to Zone Travel, multiple days in a row.

  • It does require an app download onto your phone, and you need to set up your account with your bank information.

Can I pay by check?

Yes!

If you would like to avoid the 4%processing fees, you may pay by check.
It is very important that you pay in advance of the deadlines and allow ample time for delivery.

You can make checks payable to “Zone Travel”

Please mail your checks (allowing 3-5 business days for delivery - PRIOR to deadline) to:
Zone Travel
PO Box 12052
Columbus, OH 43212

Payments received after the deadline could result in cancelation of your reservation or increased fees.
